Current Rotation, defined

So a friend said "great, but what are you really working on". Okay, good question. Here's the (general) plan:

Every Monday I am going to put away the current project, even if I've only stitched one stitch on it, and pick up the next project on the list. Back when I was stitching ALL the time (pre-Emi days) I did this. Every week, no matter what, I was stitching something different. I found that I was excited every day to stitch. At one point I got up to seven or eight projects, so by the time I got back to one, it had been more than a month (or two!) since I had touched it. I'd like to get back to that at some point because it *really* kept things fresh and moving along.

Right now my plan (again, general) is to have one totally NEW project, one project that is not new but not "dug from the back of the closet" and one UFO. A *UFO* is a project that was, heh, dug from the back of the closet. An UnFinished Object (actually, I think of them as Unfinished Forgotten Objects.)

With all that in mind, the current projects (in rotation order) are:

Country Cottage Needleworks - Spring Violet. Here is the chart, there is no progress picture yet ... I am still "in the week". I will take one at the end of the week and post it. It is my goal to post a progress picture each week. Well, it's a goal!

Next week: CSN (Cross-Stitch & Needlework Magazine) - Mini Trios. I have the first one almost finished. With luck I will finish that one next week and start on the second.

And week three, I am picking up an OLD project. Marjolein Bastin's Spring Meadow. I loved this when I started it, but it just became a H.U.G.E. project. Very intricate with color changes every few stitches. As much as I loved it, I got bored with it and set it aside. That was before I started rotation stitching. I am curious to see if just stitching on it a week at a time will help bring the love back, or if it's doomed forever. Time will tell. Here is the chart, and my progress until July of 2003 when I tossed it in drawer to be moved three times! What you see here is probably 6-8 months of solid stitching. I have a ways to go.

Well, best laid plans. Last year did NOT end up being a stitching year. Too much going on between new house, Emi and Emi attending school. I am going to attempt to stitch this year, but I am *not* setting myself up for huge lists like last year.

I did finish one, and only one, project. I can't post a picture (yet) as I have, sigh, yet to mail it to the friends it goes to. It was a wedding gift, then I was going to make it a first anniversary gift, then a Christmas gift. Now, it's a "it was supposed to be a wedding gift, but I hope you like it"! I will post a picture just as soon as I mail it, and I know it's been received.

We were in Virginia last week visiting family. I stole a couple of hours of ME time (rare) and ran into Fredericksburg to one of my most favorite stitching shops - Everything Cross Stitch. Sadly they do not have a web site, darn I should have taken pictures when I was in there. Next time! I picked up a new (to me) chart. I could not wait to get home and start working on it! It's Spring Violets by Country Cottage Needleworks. I find it interesting that I am drawn more and more to their charts. Something about the use of color and the wonderful sayings just speak to me. I have also stitched their Summer Garden, which I need to find and hang. I will post the picture when I do. I lovelovelove that chart. It's probably one of my favorite charts ever. In looking for the links for this post, I found a couple more I think I need to stitch: Snowflake Serenade, Joy*Love*Peace, and possibly Garden Girl for our sweet Emi. (Wow, I just realized that the wedding gift I stitched was *also* a CCN chart. I might be turning into a groupie!)

2010: The Year of ....

Yikes, this poor little blog. No attention at all after setting it up. I doubt I will post often, but I do want to keep track this year of my projects. You see, this year is:

The Year of the UFO (unfinished projects)*
The Year of the Stocking**

*While unpacking I found a slew (small mountain) of projects that I started and for various reasons, put aside and never finished. As I have time I am going to go through them and decide - do I really want to do each one. Then, with the ones I want to: re-kit and put them in to-stitch order.

**I have quite the collection of Shepherd's Bush stockings. I even know which ones I want to stitch for each of us. They look fun, quick and beautiful (and will look *amazing* hanging on the new mantel next Christmas), I just have to get off my behind and start them!

My Stitching Goals for 2010: (in no particular order)

Stockings for Jeff, Emi and me - I should be able to get three done in a year!
Finish at least five UFO's
Finish the Wedding Gift (that is first first first on the list)
Set up my sewing/stitching storage room
Try not to start any new projects until both gifts are done, one stocking is in the works and maybe another UFO is done (we'll see ... this is a hard one - I love new projects and there are SO many new and awesome charts coming out right now)

Welcome to my little stitching area. This hobby has become a passion. I wake up in the morning thinking about it, race around the house doing my 'chores' so that I can have more time to stitch. Push off all errands on to one day, so that I can stay home the other days and stitch stitch stitch. I wonder if there is a 12-step program, but that would require I want help and ... I don't!

Flickr.com is the on-line photo sharing site I use for my stitching. I am pretty happy with it, it could be easier to use. I like PictureTrail better for ease of use, but Flickr is cheaper.

Here is the link to my stitching photos. My current plan is to post (with photos!) my rotation. May take some time to get everything that is in my rotation up here, but I will start soon!
